So guess who has been having secret meetings with the President.

Courtesy of the New York Times:

President Obama has submitted himself for a grilling on the set of “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart three times. But on at least two occasions, Mr. Obama also secretly met with the comedian on his own imposing turf.

In 2011 and again in 2014, Mr. Stewart came to Washington for coffee with the president, entering the White House grounds at the entrance where the public tours begin. He shook hands with several tourists and was escorted to the Oval Office for his one-on-one sit down with the commander in chief.

He joked in 2011 to his escort that he felt like he was being called to the principal’s office.

The two meetings — recorded in the official White House visitor log — were first noted this week by Politico. Current and former White House officials confirmed the visits, describing them as efforts by the president and his communications team to tap into Mr. Stewart’s influence with younger voters.

“Jon Stewart was a key influencer for millennials,” said Dag Vega, who worked for several years at the White House developing relationships with media figures. “They relied on him for an honest take on the news, and the president and senior staff know that.”

According to source the President was the one to ask for the meetings, which in my opinion was smart on his part.

Of course talking to Jon Stewart and picking his brain about how to reach groups that are traditionally hard to engage, is an intelligent thing for the President to do. Just like he talks to military experts before deciding on actions in potential war zones, economists when he works on getting people back to work, and experts on Iran before helping to broker that nuclear deal.

Personally knowing that these two engaged in private conversations together at the White House, kind of makes me appreciate both of them just a little bit more.

Actually I now hope that Obama was also secretly meeting with Rachel Maddow to talk media strategies, Neil deGrassse Tyson to discuss science, and Warren Buffet to talk about job growth as well.

P.S. Just for fun here is a rare look at Stewart's Q and A before the show.

Every time that something like this comes out in the news, I visit the pond to watch their tiny pea brains explode. It is so personally gratifying.

    Wingnuts heads exploding!

But, but -- he didn't ask to meet with Rush or Glenn or Sean or Sarah!!!!! He's not the president of the entire country, just the libtard coasts.
    We'd crush him another election!

I wonder why the media never reported that the Bush WH had a special OVERNIGHT visitor on numerous occasions, a male prostitute named Jeff Gannon? I do not know if he was there for W, Rove or BOTH. So, two visits by John Stewart is news, but numerous visits by a prostitute is overlooked? Why, because the rules are different for gop and democratic presidents, as we all know.

Not trying to be a troll, but how do you know this? Just asking cause I'd like to learn more on this situation. I despise W! Thanks in advance.

    2. We all knew about Jeff Gannon. http://tinyurl.com/plooc

But yes his White House visits not attributed to Talon News participating in press briefings was under reported.

Also, too, google Vincent Ashe. He was W's "roomate" in college, a fellow cheerleader. Rumors flew, so when W was running for the WH, Ashe was quietly assigned a lucrative ambassador position overseas, out of sight. Georgie may not be the macho cowboy he pretends to be.

WTF that Jeff Gannon was a male prostitute found in the basement who was left over from the Clinton Administration.

Daily Show Correspondents Torture Some Answers Out of Jon Stewart

Jon Stewart tonight answered some questions Daily Show fans have always wanted to know. But Hasan Minhaj and Jordan Klepper had to torture ’em outta him first.

But “torture” for Stewart consists of eating pizza with a knife and fork, showing off clips of his acting (he’s not very good), and an Arby’s enema.

Stewart took questions about his favorite guest of all-time, what he scribbles on those blue papers, and, most important of all… Fuck Marry Kill: Larry Wilmore, John Oliver, and Stephen Colbert.

Jon Stewart kibitzes about Obama connection

,,,The Comedy Central star made a cameo to address the matter in the network’s very next time slot on “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.”

After entering the stage listed as the show’s “Senior Black Correspondent,” Wilmore asked Stewart first to confirm that the “secret” meetings with Obama did indeed happen. “I don’t know if they were secret. I’m in the visitor log. And they took pictures of the meeting,” Stewart replied as a doctored picture of him and Obama sharing a milkshake appeared on screen.

Stewart then joked that his time with Obama at the White House was a casual affair. “Hang out. Eat nachos. Watch ‘King Ralph,’” he said when Wilmore asked what they were doing together during their two meetings.

...To engage privately with the president in his inner sanctum at two sensitive moments speaks volumes about Stewart and his reach, which goes well beyond the million or so viewers who tune in to “The Daily Show” on most weeknights.

Love Stewart’s jokes or hate them, he has proven to be a unique voice who is capable of turning in-the-weeds policy discussions into viral video sensations that the country is still talking about the next morning.

As the White House recognized, Stewart can, at times, be a more potent influence on policy than Obama himself. The 52-year-old funnyman is widely credited with changing how the government treated military veterans and Sept. 11 first responders and for the cancellation of a hyperpartisan CNN talk show. His broadsides against President George W. Bush’s Iraq War and a series of Obama missteps had a searing effect on how Americans thought about Washington.

I love having a President who is brilliant BUT also knows how much he doesn't know AND is humble enough to surround himself with experts in those areas.

And he actually listens to those experts!

What's always impressed me about President Obama, was, while working with young people during his campaign, he'd have q and a facetime meetings with volunteers, asking them how they became involved, why they're willing to work so hard, and what response they're getting when knocking on doors etc etc.
President Obama was and is wise to use media familiar to younger voters, and he actively listened to any and all feedback. His campaigns were run like a well oiled machine. And he genuinely appreciated and thanked people on the ground, doing the footwork to get him elected. It was a phenomenon I've never seen a candidate take before.
You had the ability to log on, make calls, on your own schedule, set up area meetings etc. etc.
Knowing POTUS contacted Jon in this way didn't surprise me, It showed me he genuinely cares and wants his input and opinion.
