Alaska Dispatch tackles the Amy Demboski divorce story, but now I am left with more questions than answers.

As I begin this post I first must confess that I personally never went through the Dempsey/Hyatt divorce file myself down at the courthouse.

Instead, as I reported, I received a call from Bill Fulton about this case, who then sent me the documents that I shared on IM.

It was he and others who did the actual legwork (Except for some internet sleuthing that I did on my own later.), and it was they who decided that I should be the person to take point on the story.

Bill has been a very reliable and honest source of information for me going back a few years now, and I have come to trust him.

We of course realized that once the story was posted that other news sources would do more digging, and invariably come up with information that we did not know. And that's indeed what has happened.

Yesterday the Alaska Dispatch followed up on the story and found some interesting facts.

For instance they learned that Demboski, then Amy Lynn Hyatt, was also in the Air Force when she got married.

Now that is interesting because Demboski was described by her father as "The most military kid that he knew." However she never mentions her service to her country in the biography at her own website:

I graduated from Chugiak High School in 1994 and went on to attend UAA. While working full time, and raising a family, I earned Bachelor’s degrees in Justice and History. I subsequently obtained an MBA, with an emphasis in Finance, from Columbia Southern University. I have spent the majority of the past 20 years employed in the private sector right here in Alaska. My responsibilities included building and managing multi-million dollar businesses. Currently, In addition to representing the Eagle River area on the Anchorage Assembly, I am responsible for the overall management, business development and operations of a business with multiple locations in Alaska.

See? No mention of serving in the military. How odd.

She also of course fails to mention her previous marriage and subsequent dissolution.

The Dispatch also claims that in the beginning of the proceedings that Hyatt and Dempsey claimed there was no child:

Among the statements in the petition the couple swore was true was this: “There are no minor or dependent children born of or during this marriage or adopted during this marriage, and the wife is not now pregnant.”

And that later there was a forged document which admitted to a child, but claimed that Dempsey was not the father:

A document purportedly signed by Dempsey that sought to amend the initial filing with a reference to the pregnancy and an assertion it was not his child was a “forgery by someone else,” Shortell declared.

Dispatch has a statement from Dembosky insisting that it was not a forgery but in fact a notarized document from Dempsey. Which, as previously stated, declared that he was not the father.

That must refer to this document:

Which read in full:

"I, Christian M. Dempsey, being duly sworn do hereby depose and say: (And this next part is hand written.) that I am not the father of the child to be born to Ms. Amy L. Hyatt in July 1996."

Dembosky also told the Dispatch this:

Demboski said she joined the military when she was 18, and married Dempsey while she was in technical training. She said she and Dempsey were deployed to England, and she became pregnant with her daughter. She said she moved back to Alaska for health reasons. She said she received an honorable discharge from the military.

But see now all of that is confusing because the first of the documents I received was this one from April 2, 1996:

Which clearly states:

(resident 10/95 married, no child, 7/96 due) (resident never lived w/Mr., Mr. not the father.)

So they were both stationed in England after being married, and they did not live together?

And as you will notice there is already a statement that Mr. Dempsey is not the father.

Like I said confusing.

Also according to the Dispatch the first attempt at a dissolution did not take, so there was another more successful attempt filed on April 24, 1997, AFTER the child was born.

In this case apparently Dempsey did accept that the child was his, despite working so hard to disprove it in the initial case.

However he also stated that he was unaware of the child's birth until four months after the fact and, though he agreed to pay support, he did not ask for any visitation rights.

That seems more than a little odd. Almost as if in the end he gave in to pressure, but still knew the child was not really his.

Demboski also told the Dispatch that she did not lie under oath, did not remember anything about forged documents, and that she did not remember it took two tries to finally end her first marriage.

Uh huh.

Like I said this article raises more questions than it answers in my opinion, but the one thing that is made crystal clear is that we do NOT want to elect this person to be the mayor of my city.

No way, no how!

Which, if you take a moment to scroll through the comments under this Dispatch article, seems less and less likely.

What is it about lying and politicians in Alaska. Is there something in the water up there? Did she live on a dead lake too? Is that pipeline leaking into all the lakes and wells?

With very few exceptions, Bernie Sanders being one of them, all politicians are liars and thieves, regardless of their state of origin.

I know a number of politicians in Alaska and 'most' of them are nothing like Amy Dem! She, and Sarah Palin, are from the same ugly, black seed!

No wonder Bristles Palin actually thinks SHE could go into politics. In Alaska there does not seem to be much vetting going on. Why would people vote for a candidate who does not remember trying to get a marriage dissolved, or whether there was a child? Bristles will fit right in, minus the NARRIAGE, of course!!

She'll show - she has to! Plus, she is like Palin - have lied all their lives and love the attention - be it positive or negative.

I see Amy as one nasty bitch!!! Having called out Ethan about 'incest' when her statement wasn't true. And, neither was Prevo's!! Liars, both of them.

Go back through the records of what Amy has said about the subject - she's changed her story many times. First she heard it on the radio, then she didn't, then she never said it, then she said the media got it wrong. Must be awful being in her head!

This is a woman DESPERATE for attention, DESPERATE for power, who, as Dan Coffey put it, "like Sarah Palin pretends to know a lot about everything and really knows very little about anything." We need to get Amy Demboski out of our municipal life for good.

Amy is one friggin' messed up woman! I feel for her two husbands and children and everything they are finding out about her currently! (Although I'll bet both husbands are well aware she has always been a liar!)

Folks, based on all the things we are currently learning about Amy, I find it amazing she's gotten away with this crap for so long! I'd love to know what the Anchorage Assembly members REALLY think of her and how many will actually vote for her when casting theirs for Mayor of Anchorage? I hope folks noticed that one of her former employers has come out against her and called her a liar!

Vote Ethan Berkowitz! He is who should be the Mayor of Anchorage!

And, he does not approve of incest as Amy indicated. She went to the bottom of the barrel with that documented comment! That ALONE should stop people in Anchorage from voting for her - to include the supposed godly man and Baptist preacher, Jerry Prevo. He and Amy owe Ethan Berkowitz a 'pulic' apology for having both made the statement! She's changed her story on this matter more than once too - amazing to watch - does she really think there is no record of what she has said about the 'incest'? Ethan has handled the matter brilliantly, I might add!

Alaska has a habit of voting frauds and religious freaks in at the top of our government and in the Alaska Legislature. (i.e. Sarah Palin, Sean Parnell, Anna Fairclough (head of Budget for the Alaska Legislature and anti public education due to having led the defunding of it!), etc.

It's time to change our ways - get the vote out and turn the State of Alaska back to being 'blue' - Democratic.

The majority Republicans (Alaska Legislature) have taken us down many wrong roads and have made things a mess! Look at that building they have in downtown Anchorage now and pay attention to so many of their connections with big oil and the funding that has been provided them from the various oil companies.

Vote, vote, vote for Ethan Berkowitz! He will far better represent Anchorage as our Mayor.

This chick is a pathological fraud. Her "edumacation" and resume are thin. An MBA from Colombia Southern University is an online degree. This not quite accredited higher institution of learning does not have a campus. The Mayes family that own this for profit firemen's college mill also bought a small liberal arts college in Forest City, Iowa which has been a nutty school for rabid evangelical Lutheran kids since the early 1900's. Waldorf ran into trouble because of being Christian nutty for so long that it was acquired for its accredations recently. So Colombia Southern can funnel its coursework through the old Waldorf College which IS regionally accredited. So this bitch is no genius...just a religious zealot with a Palin aganda.
I like the opposition she voices against Medicaid and food stamp recipients. She seems to forget that SHE was once reliant on them. How Sarah-like!
Holy shit. Where do these people come from? If these wingnut Repub Christians feel they are being persecuted, I say let's start persecuting them as the criminals they are.

Keep digging Gryphen, because there is no way in hell she would have gotten an honorable discharge without serving her full hitch. It just doesn't work that way. She may have gotten a general discharge, which is not a dishonorable discharge, but it sure isn't an honorable one either.
There should be public records on her military service including her discharge.

Perhaps she was drummed out for cheating on her spouse?

Would explain why she never mentioned her military service.

The other thing suspicious about this is that military service is a big plus for right wing conservatives. Why wouldn't she mention something that would shore up her bonifides? Unless of course that would bring attention to something that would make her look bad.

Ask her for her DD214. That will have everything about her military service on it. She stated she got married in tech school and yes that happens. I have seen it. They usually don't last and some of them are just contract marriages so they can get extra benefits and not have to live in the barracks. Not saying that happened here, but considering how Republicans, (Senator Sullivan) like to throw their military service in your face, this is kind of strange that she has never mentioned it.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous1:18 PM

How does someone investigate her military career? Does the DD214 (think that is the number of it?) reflect when and what type of discharge she received? Someone needs to get a copy of it. I have no clue how to do it!

But, it seems like that is how we found out about Track Palin quite awhile ago. (That he didn't serve in combat duty, which his mother, Sarah Palin, was caught lying about!)

I don't trust anything Amy is telling folks. Everything she says and does needs to be verified...too many lies have already been proven that she has been spewing for the past years.

      Vote for Ethan Berkowitz!

I already have and it felt wonderful casting my vote!

Seems she went to the $arah palin school of candidacy.

The main precepts of said school are:

    1. Tell lies, then tell them over and over again, getting louder each time. They then become truth.

    2. If you can't come up with a lie to cover some truth that's been dug up - either lie louder, deflect to someone else, or remain silent.

Make sexual innuendos against your opponent - everybody believes those.

Two unbelivable facts : a right winger hiding her serving in the Army if she did it with honors, and a man paying child support for a child that is not his, and that he doesn't want to see.

Dig deeper. Is this child Dempsey's or not ? Was she in the military or not ?

    ReplyDelete
  16. An European Viewpoint12:42 PM

If I undestand this stuff correctly :
In october 95 they marry, while both being in the military.

In january 96, 3 months later, she/they file for divorce. She's not pregnant. She's never lived with him. She's not in the military any more.

In april 96 she's 6-month pregnant. She claims he's not the father. He claims he's not the father on a paper that's deemed a forgery by a judge.

In june 96 this petition for divorce is refused.

Later on they file a new petition for divorce : both now say the child is his, he'll pay child support but he doesn't want to see the child.

How was the mother dismissed from the military between october 95 and january 96 ?
    Whatever happened between petition#1 and petition#2 ?
How can the mother both say now that the first husband is the father, and that the document saying he's not a father is totally legitimate ?

And on another front : way to go, miss Hyatt, for taking more than 3 months to notice you're pregnant. Living the life, not worrying over little pesky things like an absence of periods, and only checking with the doctor when there's something odd and moving inside your strangely ever growing tummy ? Not very bright or can't be bothered, which is it ?

I want proof and positive statements from that company leaders. Where is their support of her? What is the name of the company or companies? Have they provided her political funds? Questions, questions.

She needs to have some good journalist (or, a good blogger) really dig into her fraudulent life and publish the truth.

Quite simple, he did not believe the child to be his. But most states deem a child born in a marriage to be a child of that marriage. So, he would be obligated to pay child support even if he didn't think it was his child because the LAW sees him as the father. He probably didn't want visitation because the child was probably not his biological child.

These are assumptions of course based on the reporting.

Anchorage folks should make a sweater with a big "A" on the front of it - give a great speech and present it to her (wrapped in a box) providing it to her as a 'gift' at the next Anchorage Assembly Meeting.

She deserve to be embarrassed by the lies she has told. She has not lived the Christian life she has pushed on others in her Assembly roll. Plus, religion and government are not suppose to be mixed!

Amy is a fraud and poor example to women in Anchorage! No one would want to follow in her footsteps. Have seen the same thing said many times about Sarah Palin!
