Is this love?

So yesterday Brancy posted this picture along with this statement:

Mom sent this to me — I love Trig so much it hurts!

Really?

You know what hurts me?

That his little boy is not wearing his corrective eyeglasses and hearing aids.

It makes me feel badly that he is so far behind developmentally, even though with the proper therapies and instruction he could be doing much, much better.

And I think it should make everybody hurt, especially the parents among us, to see a child who was used as a political pawn, being terribly neglected since he has apparently now outlived his usefulness.

Bristol do you love him enough to change his diaper?
Will you love him enough to change his diaper when he is 20 and still not toilet trained

When Trig is 16 years old, with pubic hairs, and still crapping his applesauce in his diapers, the nanny will be the only person doing the dirty work.

Sarah just wants her rubes to keep donating money to pay for nanny.

You are right on. Dr. Johnson is one of the most egregious parts of the tragic Trig Palin Saga.

What a pitiful place Wasilla and Palmer are that there is not a way they can so much as ask her a few questions. Wouldn't it be interesting to see what she could say about the update from Sarah's video and how no doctor in all of Alaska has done zip for Trig.

Isn't that guy from Progressive Alaska part of the same community and he supports Dr. Johnson? I think he is an educator. I suppose his lips will be sealed about Trig's condition and especially the role Dr. Johnson has played.

She is confusing her love for Trig, with the guilt she feels about giving him up to such an uncaring individual.

Love doesn't hurt; it's a wonderful feeling. Guilt and shame are what hurts.

It hurts because Sarah has a show to do in Missouri for some cash. She has to bring out the old prop and people notice that Trig is a human being, other than something to say is cute.

It hurts Bristol that people are noticing how she and the entire family neglected Trig. It will be a hell of a month for the family.

Just because he's all dressed up and sitting on what appears to be a bus bench doesn't mean he is actually attending any kind of school. You know Trig only gets trotted out for photo ops--not actual experiences. Once thye have enough recent photos to last a while, back he goes to the caretakers. If Sarah didn't have that speech coming up, we wouldn't see squat of Trig until Christmas.

Schools are mandated to educate students, no matter their condition. He qualifies for a special education class with sped. ed teacher and aides. Many of the children aren't potty trained, need speech, occupational, and physical therapy, and behavior management.

    4. Anonymous10:24 AM

We have seen photo ops of Trig going to 'first day of school' at least twice now. He also went to a Bible or church school. It looked like he was functioning at a good enough level that he would be fine in a situation with other children. (indeed, it was deception and the ongoing fraud about the child that Sarah claims Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson delivered).

The Palins were also deceptive and perpetrating fraud, by using Trig, when they showed him looking at books and involved in his Ipad. They wanted their fans to think he was developing so they would continue to send money to a wonderful family.

The Palins never bothered, nor have they been able, to show Trig with his peers and relating to a class or other children in a class social setting.

He sits again lonely in a picture that hurts everyone to see. What kind of school is part of this travesty? He may be going into a room where he is only with adults that service him. If he is with other children it may be very limited. I suppose the only people he is around are from the cult. A cult that no child or young adult should be exposed to.

She posted that because of you, because you keep hammering them for how they failed Trig. They are such fools. They really think they're fooling anybody. But Trig's uncorrected crossed eyes expose them for the hypocritical liars they are. If they really loved that child, they would do anything to help him lead the most normal life possible. But the poor child cannot even SEE. They dress him up with no place to go. THEY are not only neglectful users. They are evil.

    1. Sadly, seeing how neglected and how far behind Trig is in his development by not having been given the special care and treatment he should have had earlier in his life, demonstrates what poor parenting can do to a special needs child. Maybe Sarah should have realistically examined her own capability in raising a child like Trig first before she decided to bring this child into the world. But unfortunately, women like Sarah also can't see their own flaws because they have a mental disorder such as a narcissistic personality. It's too bad there isn't some type of mental examination that a mother pregnant with a Down Syndrome child must go through to gather as much information as possible to help her in making such a tremendous decision. A little more education for the mother to let her know what to expect and how to raise such a child would also be a good idea if they decided to go ahead and raise the child.

If Trig would have been raised in a healthy and loving family environment, he most likely would've been a completely different child at this point. But, having a very self centered and narcissistic mother who is distant to her children, and who's own mental health is also questionable, Trig is the perfect example of what happens to a child with special needs is raised by this type of mother. On the other hand, if another mother with more maturity, love and intelligence knew she would be having a special needs child like Trig, and knew she wasn't capable of raising a child like this, she may have made a different decision on having this child, and spared her child from being in the same situation as Trig is in today.

A special needs child's future and success in life all lies in the mother and families ability to care for a special needs child, and if the mother, after careful consideration knows she is not fully capable of expending the time and cost in raising such a child she should do what 70% of the other mothers do and abort the child.

As someone who works with a student who needs glasses and hearing aids in order to function, there are limits to what a school can do if the parents do not cooperate. Repeated phone calls home often result in the parents not answering once they recognize the phone number. If the situation gets really bad, the school can contact CPS, but I seriously doubt that anyone in Alaska would be willing to call CPS on the Palin family.

The school can encourage, remind and support, but it's still the parents' responsibility to insure that the child comes to school prepared.

In my city, CPS caseworkers are so overwhelmed with their caseloads that they focus most of their attention on the kids who are in actual physical danger. The kids who are 'merely being neglected' often get overlooked and the schools staff must unofficially fill in the gaps as best as they can.

My colleagues and I have provided backpacks, school supplies, snacks, clothes and winter wear for our students. I've even bought underwear and had a student brush his teeth in the nurse's office every day because it wasn't getting done at home. Another colleague actually washed a student's hair every few days in the classroom sink because he wasn't being bathed at home. We've sent snacks home for weekends when we knew the kids weren't being fed properly, and provided extra food in school so they could fill up before they went home. A friend of mine had a three drawer storage cart with an assortment of clothing that her own kids had outgrown so that they kids with the worst hygiene could change in the morning, and she brought their clothes home every weekend to do their laundry.

Unfortunately, these are not unusual situations in schools in low income areas, and there are many more neglected kids that we just don't have the time or resources to help.

But teachers are greedy, lazy people who just want easy jobs with lots of vacation!

It is really heartbreaking how this child has not been treated with the proper therapy that would afford him the best chance at reaching his full potential. I watched Piper's ice bucket challenge with Trig yelling off camera. He sounds so frustrated that he cannot speak the words that he would like to get out. My 46 year old brother in law has DS. He is by far not high functioning as he lives with his parents but has a job and is a very confident and bright individual. My mother in law had him in therapy since the day he was born and worked with him constantly. He was not in diapers at the age of 6 and he certainly had had a cheerio before the age of 6. The Palins are cruel and sick people beyond belief.

Maybe you should look at another picture of Trig, I mean video. In the video of Piper getting splashed with water, you can hear Trig crying out in the background. You don't have to be an expert to know that Trig needs the help of a speech therapist. He should have had that kind of therapy long ago. Sarah only had a therapist look at Trig recently, in another one of her videos. (The one of Piper is on Sarah's facebook).

We have kids with DS working in our local supermarket, and they are not seriously challenged. They can speak, follow directions, bag groceries, joke with the customers, even sing. That doesn't just "happen." They have had the benefit of therapy and good special ed programs. Trig has not.

Is there any chance Trig does have a peditrician? One that is not a heart surgeon or podiatrist only. The Palins get medication and or drugs from somewhere. They have a big family and it is not all street drugs. They can go to any doctor or psychiatrist that does script and get whatever they ask for.

Trig's doctor may be the one that signs off on Sarah getting by with not treating Trig's disabilities. She may still use Dr. Cathy. That may be why Dr. Cathy is so busy keeping secrets. She has been involved with abusing Trig the last 6 years?

Whatever happened to Phil Monger? He thought Dr. Cathy was so great because she delivered people he knew. Is he neglecting and ignoring Trig's mistreatment now? It would deflect from the myth about Dr. Cathy being such a good family doctor.

There is no way that child can see properly. No Way. At this point, because he has not had corrective lenses to develop the proper muscle tone in his eyes, he will need surgical intervention. Medical neglect is a real thing, Mrs. Palin. If he's actually going to school, you will get a phone call or two on this. In fact, I haven't read the bit about the diapers etc, but I know that kids can't go to "regular school" unless they are potty trained. So, if he indeed isn't, then he is not going to any sort of regular classroom situation. Kids are deaf all the time in regular school, so that's not an issue. But this child can't see right. There's a difference between blind and distorted.

He attended kindergarten at Cottonwood Creek Elementary last year, Palin posted photos of her dropping him off when she returned from AZ. (of course, it was all about her!) Anyway, his special ed teachers have already had contact with him and would realize how delayed he is and most likely have a game plan to deal with his deficiencies.

@10:04 Sarah made a video a week or so ago where we saw Trig with a speech therapist. Sarah said in her video that she wanted Trig to go to "normal school" but he didn't meet the requirements to be enrolled. He had to be able to speak and to feed himself. Trig cannot do either thing. Sarah implied that the speech therapy would help develop his facial muscles so he could eat solid food. Then Sarah added the no so funny joke that Trig was the only kid who never ate a Cheerio. That's not funny. It's sad. If he could see, he could see the Cheerio, pick it up, put it in his mouth-- it takes a long time for 6 month old babies to do that, but they learn how to pick up finger food and feed themselves, even if more food ends up on the floor.

Cottonwood Creek Elementary should be convicted of child abuse and neglect crimes as well. They knew he was being treated like an animal in a cage who was stuck with heartless cruel masters so he could never develop and reveal the truth about them.

The Palins set up 2 separated first day of school scenes. Were they both from the same school? Was it just a hoax or did he actually regularly go to class?

Gryphen saw Trig at a basketball game where the cheering of the crowd was really really loud. He noted that Trig slept through the game, where the noise would have startled and awakened a child with normal hearing. Ear-splitting cheering and noise didn't register with Trig.

To add on to 11:02, it wasn't just the crowd noise, it was the shockingly loud buzzer at a basketball game. Trig didn't flinch or blink or anything- giving Gryphen reason to believe Trig is deaf/hearing impaired.

The largest indication of hearing impairment is the inability to form words properly. The fact that he can't eat solid foods yet is an egregious symptom of neglect birth to 3, but not necessarily related to hearing. He can't use words because he doesn't hear them properly. How is it a legit therapist would not report a family that did not give a child the necessities to function in life? If the boy has a consistent legit therapist won't we see him with the aids he needs to develop?

How is this that much different from a family that keeps a child in a closet and after years they are found as at age 15 the ability of a 2 year old?

Wasn't theere a family that the state told they could not name their child Hitler? That was not a physical life and death matter. Other families with odd religions or reasons not to medically treat a child can have children removed from their homes.

I really don't get how their is nothing happening with Trig. From the state or federal government. We know nothing will happen for the Palins part of this.

The National Down Syndrome Society has a site. It lists it's "Buddy Walk" which is organized in AK and AZ, among other states. Anchorage had it's Buddy Walk August 2nd.

Does it hurt Sarah and Bristol too much to get involved and promote it? The site also lists resources: education, caring for families, aging matters, transition and beyond, wellness, therapies and development, health care. It offers publications, local support, a helpline, news archive, monthly newsletter, and suggests ways to offer and volunteer, like fundraising, advocacy programs, legislative andas, and getting corporations involved through corporation partnering......

Photos of down syndrome kids and adults who are benefitting from the program show their EYES appearing corrected. I have failed to see a photo of a DS child whose eyes are so cross-eyed. Of course sometimes the flap of skin that is a trait in most DS kids might make it appear their eyes are crossed and only an eye specialist for special needs would be able to diagnose that; but, still, there seems to be something wrong when the Palins always photograph litte Trig without corrective lenses or eye patch, and his eyes look extremely uncomfortably crossed, which, when compared to other DS children you search around the web, have eyes that appear to have corrected.

If Bristol loves her brother Trig, then she'd know it hurts him not to see and if she checks out the NDSS's articles on vision, she'd know that uncorrected eyes coud cause him vision problems for the rest of his life.

Don't know if they mentioned the diaper thing but he was wearing one in photos taken early last spring. As far as hearing deficiency goes, I've never seen the Palins address that firsthand, perhaps it is being inferred that he has hearing difficulties because many DS kids do.

The video with Piper getting ice-watered has the sounds that Trig is making that shows he just cannot communicate with people, let alone teachers and other students. Is he ready for school if he can't understand instructions and learn how to be silent? Does the child practice etiquette and know how to listen and cooperate with other students?

He seems very passive in his photos and a sweet child, but, in a family like the Palins, where the focus is always on making money and being celebrities, why haven't they shown him improving and integrating with other children? Trig is still being used as Sarah's visual prop. She bragged about using visual props during her speeches because that's what people remember, like holding the Big Gulp. Sarah's take off of Patrick Stewart's video was filled with visual props. (If you look closely, when Sarah goes to take a drink of the well placed Dr. Pepper, she sticks her tongue in the glass. Classy.

And now they have gotten Trig a therapy dog, or as Sarah described her, a buddy. Is the dog supposed to make up for the lack of human companionship and interaction? Trig will only learn to speak with the help of a speech therapist. He won't be able to see the world clearly without his glasses. No wonder he has never seen a Cheerio, let alone eaten one. It's terrible to see Trig being neglected, since he was responsible, in part, for Sarah's being chosen as VP. (No wonder she dragged a 5 month old special needs child with a hole in his heart. around day and night during the 2008 campaign. It's too bad that Trig cannot speak up for himself. They have crippled him, rather than provide therapy so Trig could reach is full potential. Trig has already missed out on 6 years of therapy. There are some people who really should not have children unless they plan to take care of them.

I did basic training of a service dog from 8 weeks to 18 month's of age. The dog then went on for a solid year of professional training. Puppy raisers were encouraged to use both voice and hand signals with the dogs.

For the life of me, I can't see where a service or therapy dog fits into Trig's life. He can't do verbal or hand signals. He can't take the dog out to relieve itself (my dog had to be trained to potty on command). He might use a dog, with a harness, as an aid in walking, and the dog can carry his backpack, but still he has no means of communicating with the dog. Or of taking care of it ... feeding and grooming.

Someone went to a lot of time and effort to train that dog. As badly as I feel for Trig, I can't help but think that there is someone out there who really needs a free service/therapy dog.

It's unbelievable and pure evil that this family has used this needy child in this way.

Why do they post pictures of him endlessly on their facebook instead of helping him? A DS parent knows how completely involved and time-consuming it is to keep a child on therapy schedules and doing at-home training, and keeping a rigid proper home life with a routine, to give the child a sense of security.

The photos the Palins post of Trig are very suspicious, in that they hold back the real important parts of Trig's life, where he is in therapy and improving and succeeding in every faculty, like actually watching him do sign language, seeing him pick up a fork or spoon for himself, or using a cup, or hearing him say a word, or allowing photos of him with other children, sitting and playing with trucks and toys, and being engaged in something that keeps his curiosity level up. Photos like these are NEVER seen.

All Sarah and Bristol post are ones where he is hardly ever actually involved in something real; their fake photos of him with a plastic baseball bat trying to swing or throw a ball to Tripp is not convincing. People need to see that he really is invested in a real game, with coaches and therapists, not just a photo op to make him appear happy. All is not well with that family's treatment with Trig.

I had a weird thing happen to me some time ago. Out of the blue, I woke up with double vision. That's not a good sign of anything. When I looked in the mirror, one eye was crossed, badly crossed. The other eye was fine. In order to drive to the eye doctor's office, I had to keep one eye closed because I was seeing two completely different images or views. The doctor rushed me into the hospital for a brain scan to make sure that I hadn't had a stroke. No, I hadn't.

I learned that this kind of thing happens, and that in most cases, the eye returns to normal in a few weeks. If not, they could tweek the eye muscles and restore the eye to the right position, or I could wear a special lens that would correct my vision. It lasted for a few weeks. Everything is back to "normal" now.

Because of that episode, I can tell you from my own experience that Trig's eyes are seeing two different things. Either he compensates by not using one eye or he is confused by the mish-mash of images that he sees. There are corrective lens for his condition. But, he should have had a simple surgical procedure, done between the ages of 2-4 years old, to tighten the eye muscles so they could function more normally or at least better. He may always need glasses, even with all of these procedures, but not wearing glasses is making Trig blind to the world. It's cruel and he will never be able to see clearly. For all we know, those mixed up images could give him a terrible headache (I know that it gave me a headache!) The difference is that Trig does not know now to explain that something inside his head hurts. I know, make that gesture of putting your hand to you head and shake your head a little. We all know that. We have no idea what Trig sees or what he knows. But I know that he cannot see without corrective glasses, and he is not wearing any kind of glasses, not even the cheap ones from the drug store.

Bristol perjured herself by claiming to living alone in the wilderness. She was next to Best Western and the SS had their own gate house to protect the family. That is that baby. Trig, Tripp or?

That baby doesn't look like it is cross eyed.

Would Bristol say that she loves Tripp so much that it hurts? If the answer is no, then I believe that's because she already has him with her. But she loves Trig so much that it hurts (causes her pain) - well maybe she has a broken heart because she is separated from him and/or he is incapable of loving her back?

Personally I have never experienced loving any person inside or outside of my family that it "hurt". I couldn't help but google: What does it mean: "i love you so much it hurts"? Here are some web answers that could yield some clues:

    1. It basically means that they love you more than anything in the world and it hurts because they cant always be with you and it hurts them not being there.

    2. when you say I love you so much it hurts . it feels like your dying like you jumped into the freezing ocean naked and ur getting stabbed with a thousand knives all over your body and no one around to save you just the thought of the pain the constant hurt it brings you to be in love with such person

    3. they're wearing constrictive underwear....

    4. Love in its pure form doesn't hurt. If it hurts, most likely there are some other emotions wrapped up in that love that you might want to address. Love that hurts is called obsessive love and that stems from other issues and is not a healthy form of love.

    5. I love you so much but it hurts me because I know I can't have you. . .

    6. Loving too much can be problematic when it hurts the lover, which typically occurs in the long term. The lover's intense love might be excessive in the sense that it prevents her from realizing the true nature of their relationship.

    7. Being "In Love" doesn't hurt at all. The only thing that creates the pain is fear of rejection, fear of loss, fear of not being good enough, etc., etc. - and all self-created due to lack of self worth.

    8. Real love is loving oneself and recognizing that everyone is part of you. There is only love and it isn't the kind of love that intensify's or dies out. It is eternal and real. If you think love is something you can gain or lose then you haven't understood love at all. Love hurts because you don't love yourself enough and you don' t really know who you are yet. There is only love and everything else is an illusion you have created in the natural thinking mind.

    9. 'I love you so much, it hurts' refers to loving someone so much that they're scared and hurt by the prospects of losing them.

    10. Sometimes if you love someone so much, it will actually hurt more, it will hurt to let them go,  to say goodbye. If you love someone so much, then you should let them go when it's time, because their happiness is all that would matter to you, them being happy would make you happy.

    11. It's hard to explain.......
like.. you want to be with someone SO MUCH, but u cant, wether its that they dont like you, or u just can be with them.

It hurts because Bristol is also caught hating.

Neglect and abuse are not love.

What the Palins do is the opposite of love, they are Trig haters.

They hurt when they are caught in the act of hating.

I remember that "hurt" feeling. I thought that we were in love, college sweethearts, still under 21 years old, not all that grown up and mature, too young for a long term committed relationship. He had his eyes on more schooling, and one day, he just cut it off, said good bye. It was if our love had never mattered. That hurt. It was like a knife through my heart.

That was a long time ago. We have all had break ups like that. The hurt only lasted a week. When I look back, we would have made a terrible match, and a terrible marriage. Over the years, I have lost loved ones. Watching someone die slowly from cancer, suffer from the chemotherapy, all that you can have is total love and support for that loved one. The hardest part is saying good bye and accepting the fate that we all face eventually. Fortunately, the good memories are always there.

I don't know much about Bristol other than the fact that she had a baby, maybe two before she was out of high school. From some of her posts, she doesn't sound all that mature. No,you don't have to go to college to continue learning about the world, maturing and growing.

We watched Bristol's reality show where she didn't know how to cook a chicken and couldn't be bothered to look up an easy recipe on the internet. (She can post blogs but she can't Google "roast chicken.") If Bristol truly loved Tripp, she would appreciate that he needed to see his father as well as his mother. To be that selfish is not love, it's as controlling and smothering as her domineering mother.

As for Trig, if it hurts that much, where is Bristol offering to work with the boy? Bristol had plenty of money to spend of a float boat. If she cared that much, she could have paid for a therapist and learned to work with Trig to improve his facial muscle tone, speak and feed himself. If Bristol truly cared to get rid of the "hurt," she would sit down with Trig and make him promise to wear his glasses. She could make sure that he had a strap that held them on his head, or that his glasses came in a super cool style. Instead of spending her time collecting emails in a book club about a children's book, Bristol could have been reading books to Trig, helping him learn colors, numbers, shapes and sounds. If you love someone that much, those are the things that you do, because it should be all about Trig, not posing for photos.

I feel sorry for all of the Palin kids, whose lives have been manipulated and controlled by Sarah. Was that her life, growing up as one of Chuck Heath's children? (He said that she was a hard one to break, she was stubborn). Maybe Bristol's distorted idea of love comes from the way she was raised-- by a woman who was more involved with progressing her own career than being there for her kids.

I agree with some of the comments that the comment was probably written by Nancy. By now, Nancy is the voice of Bristol, and by lending her trademarked name to that blog, Bristol owns the comment. Love doesn't hurt. It fills you with more joy than the best ghost writer can possibly describe. That love should be the motivation for Bristol to do something to help Trig, instead of posting a photo of him, cross eyed, without his glasses. Or maybe, that's the most that Bristol can offer by way of a protest at the way that Trig is being raised.

Why is anyone surprised? Anybody who did not have a checkup by a physician and flew 12 hours leaking amniotic fluid to a remote hospital in Alaska did not have her baby’s best interest in mind. That is just a fact. Anyone who decided to withhold from her family that she was pregnant with a special-needs fetus for seven months is a nut case and should have been in serious therapy regarding denial of reality. The least she could have done was prepare her children! Sarah Palin’s lack of parenting skills never shocks me anymore.

What is wrong that Trig hasn't had anything done about his cross eyes?

Chicago just paid tribute to their Little League US Champions. Not all people who are black are shooting each other. These kids were great baseball players, at 12 and 13 years old, and the entire city is behind them.

Let's get serious. The great metropolitan area of Chicago is 9 million people. Alaska doesn't have even a million people. Chicago is home to dozens of universities, medical schools, dental schools, law schools, while anyone who wants to get an advanced degree has to leave Alaska to study in the lower 48. Chicago has a world class symphony, art museums, two major league baseball teams, a hockey team that won the Stanley Cup a year ago, a major league football team, a hockey team, and more sports than I can think of right now. The University of Chicago has more Nobel Prize winners than the entire state of Alaska. (How many people in Alaska have won the Nobel Peace Prize?) Chicago has theater, ballet, two zoo's....please don't make me go on. Chicago holds major conventions. Three of Chicago's largest hotels could house all of the people of Wasilla. Seriously. Don't even try to compare a world class city with a small town.
