Local news outlet reveals that rancher Cliven Bundy is lying about his rights. Could have knocked me over with a feather.

Courtesy of KLAS-TV Las Vegas:

"I've lived my lifetime here. My forefathers have been up and down the Virgin Valley here ever since 1877. All these rights that I claim, have been created through pre-emptive rights and beneficial use of the forage and the water and the access and range improvements," Bundy said.

Clark County property records show Cliven Bundy's parents moved from Bundyville, Arizona and bought the 160 acre ranch in 1948 from Raoul and Ruth Leavitt.

Water rights were transferred too, but only to the ranch, not the federally managed land surrounding it. Court records show Bundy family cattle didn't start grazing on that land until 1954.

The Bureau of Land Management was created 1946, the same year Cliven was born.

"My rights are before the BLM even existed, but my rights are created by beneficial use. Beneficial use means we created the forage and the water from the time the very first pioneers come here," Bundy said.

"My rights are before the BLM even existed."

Only true if you are VERY bad at math.

This fight has been raging for 20 years, and the entire time Bundy has claimed that his family has been utilizing that land since 1877. That is a lie.

Whether you agree with his position or not, the fact that he fudged his family history in order to create a certain western frontier mythology, should have people stepping back and reevaluating his motives.

Especially before they get shot trying to defend them.

Now if you want to talk about a group who have an actual case....

I wonder how many teabaggers and militia members would ride out and take their sniper positions to support THIS group?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Now now... when Cliven talks about "his ancestors" living on this "land", he was being metephorical and poetic. He doesn't MEAN his family actually lived THERE, he just means that because he's a white "'Rill 'Murican" he gets to do whatever he wants or it's tyranny because Founding Fathers.

    See? Simple.

A little more Cliven family history. (note the abutment to the Utah border) The Bundies had difficulties with the LDS in both AZ and UT, so they slipped into a border town between UT and NV. No wonder he doesn't accept the US government, his family rejected the LDS, who accepted the rejection of polygamy to gain statehood. Don't know if he maintains any ties with the FLDS or not, but his acceptance of putting women and children between two sides with guns, indicates that is a legitimate line of exploration. Could be more to the Bundy Ranch than illegal grazing.

So the welfare rancher is a big old liar. Color me surprised.
They lie, proudly say they'll stick women out front to get mowed down by bullets and don't pay what they owe. Sounds like a thug to me.

In a previous post I stated that Bundy's Mormon heritage should be examined because it shows where his hatred of the Federal Government is rooted. The Fundamental Mormon's have been at war with the United States since President Buchanan sent troops to disband their polygamous religion in 1844. The Mormons slaughtered innocent citizens migrating west at the now famous Mountain Meadows Massacre. Bundy is a direct descendent of Dudley Leavett, who by accounts was involved in the killing. A quote from Wikipedia about Leavett states "While he is cited in Jon Krakauer's bestseller, Under the Banner of Heaven as a participant in the Mountain Meadows massacre of 1857, Leavitt is said to have never discussed the massacre, except to have remarked later in life, "I thank God that these old hands have never been stained by human blood." Leavitt's granddaughter Juanita Brooks later investigated the Massacre, writing the seminal The Mountain Meadows Massacre. On the role of her grandfather, Brooks seemed ambivalent. "We can only wonder as to Dudley's relation to the Massacre," Brooks wrote of him. Leavitt married several wives, and spent a decade hiding from federal officers seeking to apprehend polygamists."

There is a strain of Mormonism today that still feels strong alienation to the United States. They feel no remorse for receiving Federal food stamps, Medicare, financial assistance, and other government hand outs. It's called "bleeding the beast". Bundy certainly appears to be of that belief.

Revisionist History. Technically, it belongs to the Government, who stole it from the Native Americans.

  13. Seems to me that most of you tools are simply happy to see the government use force instead of simply putting a lien on his property.

If he was being a civil disobedient by squatting on land to prevent drilling, or sitting in a tree to prevent logging - you charlatans would be championing his cause

Bundy has all the earmarks of a polygamist. 14 kids, never see or hear from his "wife," grandparents were admittedly polygamists, lives on the border as the polygamists in Colorado City do, won't pay taxes, disavows the Federal government...someone just ask around, ask the neighbors, ask the people in his LDS ward, ask the principals in the school districts his kids attended, drop by the Bundy ranch... are there a number of houses, one big house with lots of bedrooms?.

I knew he was a Mormon just by reading his name. He is probably also a polyg. I am also related to the loons who cooked up the MM Massacre and am horrified by the right wingers who embrace this guy.

He is a welfare king who is, indeed "bleeding the beast" Mormon style. It is sick and wrong.

Maybe I'm nobody, but I feel that I, as a Native Son, born in Nevada, should give my two cents.
Bundy's claims of being here since 1877 are false, but I have family, buried in Ruth, Nevada, dating back to the 1850s; all the Joneses buried there are my blood relatives. I see people like Bundy, and I shake my head. I can't say I'm surprised.
I've lived around Mormons, and I have to say, I'd prefer the company of a Rattlesnake. Mormon men treat all Gentile women as whores. Congressman Dean Heller, also a Mormon, forced himself on a female staffer, and had an illegitimate child by her. A sort of open secret here.
For Bundy to have 50+ grandchildren, not counting his own, he COULDN'T have have a single wife. And such Mormons ALWAYS marry girls aged 11-12 at the earliest. And Bundy has called himself a "Patriarch", which is the same as Warren Jeffs, also of the Mormon Church, and arrested as a Phedophile, which is what Bundy is.
And as far as his supporters go, they should tread carefully, as Nevada as some of the most well-armed people of any state. If it comes down to it, I think it's the people of Nevada that will chase those Carpetbaggers out of the Silver State.
I can't say I have any faith in "sheriff" Gillespie. What we need is another Bill Hickok around here, if you ask me.
I hope the views of a native son, a Left-Winger and small humble farmer from Dead Man's Creek might be of interest to someone, and shed a little light on what remains of the Wild West . . .
